Autism Ontario (formerly Autism Society Ontario) is the province’s leading source of information and referral on autism and one of the largest collective voices representing the autism community. It is made up of knowledgeable parents, professionals, and autistic self-advocates who can speak to the key issues that impact Ontario individuals with autism and their families and loved ones. Members are connected through a volunteer network of twenty five chapters throughout the Province of Ontario.

Autism Ontario is guided by the board of directors, composed of parents, people on the spectrum, and respected professionals, who provide governance, expertise and guidance to the organization on a volunteer basis.

Autism Ontario is dedicated to increasing public awareness about autism and the day-to-day challenges faced by individuals on the autism spectrum, their families, and the professionals with whom they interact. The organization and its chapters share common goals of providing information and education, supporting research, and advocating for programs and services for the autism community.

Autism Alliance of Canada (formerly Canadian Autism Spectrum Disorder Alliance (CASDA)) was formed July 2007, shortly after the Senate Committee Report “Pay Now or Pay Later: Autism Families in Crisis”. During this time, the federal government sent a clear message to the autism community: We need to work together with a unified voice. The autism community responded by forming Autism Alliance of Canada. The founding members of Autism Alliance of Canada all believed that there was more the federal government could do for autism. Together, we could make this change happen. We agreed that this country needed a National Autism Strategy.

Beginning April 2009, and every year since, Autism Alliance of Canada has worked with Members of Parliament and Senators to advocate for federal leadership on Autism with a unified voice for real change.

Our Alliance has grown in number and impact since 2007. We always welcome new members as we support the government in implementing the National Autism Strategy.
